CHICOPEE-Michael X. Ferenz Jr., 55 of 26 Belcher Street in Chicopee passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center after being stricken at home. Mike was born in Ludlow on March 2, 1962 the son of Joanne (Goodreau) Ferenz of Ludlow and the late Michael Ferenz St. Michael grew up in Indian Orchard, was educated in grade schools there and attended Roger L Putnam Vocational-Technical High School in Springfield. He played Baseball in his youth and was “hooked” by the “lure” of Fishing at an early age. He enjoyed his time chasing the elusive aquatic prey and especially enjoyed the annual Post #351 Catfish Derby in Holyoke. He loved fishing the Connecticut River, spending time with family and friends. In his youth, Mike worked for Stop & Shop and A. Simos Produce Co. His love of cars led him to open a used car business and he was the President and Owner of D & M Auto Sales in Granby for many years. He leaves his daughter; Katie Bousqet and her wife Kristin Charette. His mother, Joanne Ferenz. His brother, Stephen Ferenz and his wife Debbie, two nephews, Blake & Luke Ferenz and a great nephew, Layton Ferenz as well as many cousins and friends. Calling hours at the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard will be Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. The family invites you to join them on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. (Please arrive promptly by 10:45 a.m.) for the burial service for Michael directly at Quabbin Park Cemetery, (548 Belchertown Rd., Rt. 9, Ware, Ma.)  Donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the D’Amour Center for Cancer Care, 3350 Main St, Springfield, MA 01107 or the Center for Human Development, 332 Birnie Ave, Springfield, MA 01107
