Sara Santourian1926-2015Indian Orchard- Sara Santourian of Indian Orchard passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on May 1, 2015. Born January 25, 1926 in Kessab, Syria, she moved to Beirut, Lebanon where she met and married her husband Sarkis Santourian in 1951. She obtained a Certificat d'Habilitation de Coupe et Couture Feminin in 1952. With her family she moved to the US in 1969 and settled in Springfield, MA. She was conversant in Armenian, Arabic, and a smattering of French and after moving to the US, she learned English where at age 49 she obtained her driver's permit and driver's license. She worked at UniFirst Uniform until retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sarkis, in 2008. She is survived by her three sons, Taniel and his wife, Nora and grandsons Shant and Raffi of Wilbraham, Massachusetts; Asadour Santourian of Aspen, Colorado; Hrayr and his wife Armine and grandchildren Sevan, Haig and Tahleen of Modesto, California and 7 great grandchildren. Calling hours at Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 6 to 8:30 pm. Committal services will be held on Wednesday, May 6 at Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St., New Britain, CT at 10:30 am.
