Alice Mary Keane

SPRINGFIELD - Alice Mary Keane, 76, of Grover Street in Springfield passed away peacefully on Monday morning at her home with family and friends at her side. Alice Mary, as her family called her, was born in Springfield on December 13, 1941 the daughter of the late Daniel V. Keane and Ann (Caulin) Keane.  She lived with her parents in Springfield where she graduated from the former Sacred Heart High School and lived in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield for many years. After graduation, Alice Mary went to work for the New England Telephone Company (Ma Bell), working her way up to Supervisor before her retirement in 1990. She worked as a "Lunch Lady" at several schools after her retirement and also as a "Visiting companion" for seniors with Love and Care Home services.  Alice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed trips to the Beach. She was predeceased by her lifelong friend and loving companion, with whom she was a caregiver to; John S. Libiszewski who passed away on September 28, 2013. She leaves many family and friends to remember her by including numerous nieces and nephews, especially Kim Libiszewski of Ludlow who was her caregiver and companion throughout her sickness. She leaves her beloved John's daughters; Regina Bielen and her husband, Robert of East Longmeadow, Denise Wysocki and her husband, Mark of Longmeadow, LynnAnn Tremble and her husband, Charles of the Feeding Hills section of Agawam, and Carol Libiszewski of Springfield and their extended families. She also leaves four cousins and her many dear friends. Alice will be missed by faithful companion and furry friend "Bijou" who loved her so. The family would especially like to thank Compassus Hospice for the excellent care, compassion and dignity they showed Alice these past few months. The family invites you to join them for the Catholic Rites of Committal for Alice Mary on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 12 Noon at St. Michael's Cemetery (St. Vincent de Paul Section), 1601 State St., Springfield. (Please arrive promptly by 11:50 A.M.) At Alice's request, there are no calling hours. Donations in Alice's memory may be made to Compassus Hospice, 243 King St., Northampton, Mass. 01060. The family has entrusted Alice's care with Ratell Funeral Home, Indian Orchard.
