Barbara Podosek

Barbara M. (Pecedonio) Podosek, 78, passed away peacefully on July 26th, 2016. Barbara was born in Ludlow, the daughter of Manuel Pecedonio and Evelyn (Cormier) Pecedonio. She graduated from Ludlow High School, class of 1956.  She shared 39 happy years of marriage with her beloved husband Richard J. Podosek, who died in October 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Paula J. Mahoney and husband Mike, of Ludlow; her daughter Lynn Podosek Bosman, husband Jim, and their daughters, Leila and Anneke, all of Conway, MA; her son Joseph "Jay" Podosek and his sons Sean and Hunter, of Windham, CT. She is also survived by her sister Margaret (Pecedonio)  Mulawski and husband Walter, of Beverly Hills, FL and she was beloved "Auntie Bobby" to their three children;  and members of her extended family.  She also leaves many friends from her long and happy life, most especially Virginia Cretella of Ludlow and Florence Shea of Indian Orchard.  Barbara's faith was central in her life and she was a longtime communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, now St. Elizabeth's, in Ludlow. After many years home raising her children and volunteering at St. John the Baptist School, Barbara worked as a receptionist at ChemiGraphic in Ludlow before retiring.  Barbara lived her life simply and in that way, quite grandly, always holding close that which mattered most: her family, friends, and  faith.  She brought humor, love, and a listening ear to all she encountered.  She was not just mother but friend and confidant to her three children and loved her two sons-in-law as if they were her own.   In the last five years, she resided in Conway, MA with her daughter Lynn's family.  Time with her four grandchildren was her greatest  joy, wonder, and comfort.  Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2nd, from 8-10 am at Ratell Funeral Home, Indian Orchard, followed by burial at Mass. Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Hospital, PO Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
