Barbara Jean Szczebak

Barbara Jean Szczebak, 46, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3, at Baystate Medical Center with her family at her side. Born on September 16, 1970, in Springfield, MA, a daughter of Thomas and Patricia (Nadeau) Szczebak, she was a longtime resident of Springfield. Barbara graduated from Minnechaug High School in Wilbraham and later worked for several years as a claims examiner at Consolidated Health Plans in Springfield. She was a vibrant and loving person who enjoyed many things in life, from family gatherings to shopping. Her summertime pilgrimages to the various beaches that she loved so much. Doting over her grandchildren and spending quality time with her daughter. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, Ashley L. Szczebak of Springfield; her three grandchildren, Julien and twins, Jayden and Jo'Andiel Quintero; mother, Patricia Szczebak of Chicopee; sister, Lynn Szczebak of Charlotte, NC; aunt and uncle, Nancy and Harold Nadeau of Ludlow; cousins, Tina Nadeau of Springfield, Laurie Stout of Wilbraham, and Lisa Maynard and her husband, Dave of Ludlow; and her companion, Earl Supernant of Springfield. Barbara was predeceased by her father, Thomas Szczebak. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday April 9, for calling hours for Barbara from 3-7 p.m. at Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard.
