Barbara May Wojnilowicz

Barbara May (Matroni) Wojnilowicz of Springfield, age 91, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025 in East Longmeadow. She was born in Springfield on May 6, 1933 to her late parents Matthew and Blanche (Menard) Matroni. Barbara graduated from Cathedral High School. In 1962 she married the love of her life, Chester Wojnilowicz and they remained married for 45 years until his passing in 2007. Barbara worked as an office clerk for 10 years at the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company, and then for 15 years at Jarvis East Co., in Palmer. Later in life she worked part time at Steigers. Barbara loved traveling with Chester, they had a timeshare in Aruba and visited Canada often. She was a member of the Sixteen Acres Golden Agers through St. Catherine of Siena Church, the Catholic Women's Club of Springfield, as well as the Red Hats of East Longmeadow. She loved to dance and to clap her hands to the music. Barbara is survived by her sister Patricia Skelton of Longmeadow, her brother-in-law Michael Wojnilowicz of Palmer, her niece Lilly Zeffer and her husband Michael of NY, and her grandnephews Collin Zeffer of RI and Dean Zeffer of NY. She enjoyed the longtime friendship of classmate Virginia. Visiting Hours will be held at the Ratell Funeral Home at 200 Main St., Indian Orchard on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 5-7 PM. Friends and family are invited to meet at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church at 1023 Parker St. in Springfield on Wednesday, April 23 for a funeral mass beginning at 10 AM.
