Bertha May (Roy) Patenaude was called home on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Born in New York City to the late Charles Aime and Lillian (Wragg) Roy. She lived in Indian Orchard, MA since 1966 and was predeceased by her husband Hector Patenaude in 1971, and her son Joseph Alphonse Patenaude in 2020. Bertha is survived by her children, Pearl Margaret Patenaude of Indian Orchard, and Bruce Alan Patenaude and his wife Nariman of Seaford, NY and her stepdaughter Sharon Patenaude of Fitchburg, MA. She was the grandmother of Michael Patenaude, Shaunna Patenaude, Ariel Patenaude, David Santiago, Maria (Santiago) Ceballos and John Paul Santiago, as well as great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Charles and Lawrence Roy, and her three sisters, Pearl (Roy) Clark, Carroll Ann Roy, and Muriel (Roy) Chiravalle. Bertha attended high school in Keene NH, graduating in 1955. She then joined the Navy in January 1956 and served until September 1958 and was an Air Force wife until her late husband retired in 1966. Bertha worked for the Bank of New England (formerly Third National Bank) for 20 years and then worked for 7 years at West Side Metal Door Company in Ludlow before her retirement in 2001. Bertha was a parishioner of St. Cecilia Parish in Wilbraham and a member of St. Ann’s Society of the former St. Aloysius Parish in Indian Orchard. She worked for many years with Cub and Boy Scouting. She also enjoyed doing her many projects in knitting, crocheting, and counted-cross stitching. FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO MEET AT ST.
