Bonnie D. Powers

Bonnie D. (Parkyn) Powers, 79, of Indian Orchard passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 with her family by her side. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Craig W. Powers, who sadly passed away in 2019.

Bonnie was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Walter and Cecelia L. (Whitman) Parkyn.  She was raised in Springfield and attended the local schools. Bonnie was retired after having worked in retail for many years at both Caldor Department Store in Westfield and Spags in Springfield. Bonnie loved to knit and crochet, making hats, clothing, and blankets for her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her hobbies involved reading magazines, watching cooking shows, and doing puzzles.

Bonnie enjoyed going on vacations to the Cape, and she loved spending quality time with her family, especially her granddaughters Madelyn and Megan with whom she lived with. Bonnie will be sadly missed by her children; Robert Conant of South Carolina, Susan (Conant) Powers of New York, Rick Conant of Indian Orchard, William Powers of Enfield, and Jennifer Powers of Indian Orchard. Her stepchildren; Julie Powers-Bennett of Springfield, Craig Powers of New York, and Steven Powers of Agawam. She was also predeceased by her daughter; Deborah (Conant) Ditrocchio of South Carolina and her sister Nancy (Parkyn) Johnson. Bonnie is survived by her dear sister, Beverly (Parkyn) Dean and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. At Bonnie's request she will be cremated and the family will observe private services.
