Bonnie L. Roberts

Bonnie L. (Hitchcock) Roberts, 66, of Springfield, MA passed away surrounded by her family at Baystate Medical Center on May 12, 2016. Born in Pittsfield, MA on August 2, 1949 to Bernice "Pat" (Rocke) and Byron Hitchcock, was married to Donald A. Roberts on December 2, 1972 in Springfield. She retired as Director, Human Resources of the May Institute. Bonnie and Don were former foster parents to over 100 children, mostly dedicating their family and home to keeping sibling groups together. Bonnie enjoyed music, traveling, crafts (especially knitting), and surrounding herself with loving friends and family. She was also very active with the American Legion Auxiliary. Bonnie leaves her husband and their children of whom she was most proud: Trina M., Tara B. (David Severino), Donald C. (Geoff Allman), and Seth L. (Hannah Chapdelaine). She leaves one beloved grandchild: Silas L. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and PCT staff of the Davis Heart and Vascular Center at Baystate for their care and support in Bonnie's last days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Davis Family Heart and Vascular Center 759 Chestnut Street MassMutual Building Springfield, MA 01199. The burial will be private at the Veterans Cemetery in Agawam, MA. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the American Legion Post 277 on Oak Street in Springfield, MA from 12-4PM.
