Carl Muir Langton, 88, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2017 at his home in Ludlow surrounded by family. He was born on February 21, 1929 in Springfield, MA, to Leonard and Myrtle (Cramer) Langton; he was a longtime resident of Ludlow. Carl was a graduate of Springfield Trade and later worked as a machinist and retired after 29 years from American Saw in East Longmeadow. In his personal time, he loved woodworking and traveling throughout out the country with his wife, Arlene, and countless hours of birdwatching while basking in the sun. Carl leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 68 years, Arlene (Goodreau) Langton of Ludlow, and his five children, Carl J. Langton and his wife, Doreen of MA, Holly A. Yordy and her husband, Glennard, of KS, Deborah M. Langton of TX, Lynn M. Langton of TX, and Susan M. Nurse and her husband, Clifford, of MA; seven adored grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Leonard M. Jr, and Francis "Jerry" Langton. The family would like thank Beacon Hospice caretakers, Ludlow Paramedics, and the Ludlow Board of Health nurses. Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, March 22, for a period of visitation for Carl from 9-11 a.m. at Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard, followed by a service in the funeral home at 11 a.m. celebrating Carl's life. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield.
