Charlotte, or Chucky as she was known to all that loved her, passed away Monday Morning, May 6, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She fought a long and valiant battle with lung disease that eventually over-powered her body but never her mind or her spirit.
Born to the late George DeBlois and Edna (Kenfield) DeBlois, Charlotte (as known to her mom and Dad) was born in Ludlow and spent her life living in the Springfield area. Born as the baby of six children she was destined to be a fighting warrior. She championed for all she loved in human form, animal form, spiritual form, and more. If you knew Chucky, you loved Chucky, and she loved you.
Chucky was the loving wife of Kenneth T. Martin Sr., with whom she shared 58 years of marriage, 5 children, 18 Grandchildren, and 20 Great-Grand-children. She leaves behind Kenneth, as well as their children, Laurie Methe and her husband Ronald of Springfield, Jacqueline Lacroix-Costello of Southborough, Daniel Lacroix of Ludlow, Lee-Ann Koretz and her husband Paul of Agawam, and Kenneth T. Martin, Jr. of Springfield. Besides her parents and siblings, she is also pre-deceased by one of her beloved 18 grandchildren, Danielle Martin, as well as Crystal Martin the late wife of Kenneth Martin, Jr. and mother to Danielle.
Along with her family, Chucky’s greatest comfort in life was her devotion to her faith. She was a proud member of the Wilbraham congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her belief kept her strong through her illness believing she will be reunited with her loved ones again.
Her passions always revolved around her family. She loved poetry, backyard barbeques, camping, beaches, baking, and anything she could do that included her family. When her children were grown, she ventured on to working outside the home. Banking, waitressing, and maintenance were some of the things she explored. Although she enjoyed all these challenges, homemaker was her calling. A major passion was making cakes. She mixed the ingredients perfectly, baked them with love and frosted them with colorful homemade frosting. So, it was with her family also, she mixed all the ingredients, love, laughter, generosity, nurturing, kindness, empathy and what ever ingredient was needed to create a loving home. She was the icing on that cake.
A special talk in Charlotte’s honor and memory will be presented at the Wilbraham Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
