Clarence Marceau

October 10, 1930 — June 29, 2021

Clarence R. "Gooch" Marceau, 90, of Indian Orchard passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at BSMC in Springfield. Clarence or Gooch as family and friends knew him as, was born in Ludlow, a son of the late Harry J. and Irene (Brockney) Marceau. Clarence was educated in Springfield schools and was a longtime resident of Indian Orchard. He worked for Jahn Foundry as a machinist with their EJ Machine division. He had previously worked for F & F Tool in Ludlow for many years. He retired in 1995. As a youth he was a member of the Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Gooch enjoyed golfing with his longtime friends, the "Sunshine Boys". He was very handy and enjoyed woodworking and playing horseshoes. He loved the outdoors and nature, hunting & fishing, and served two terms as President of the Ludlow Fish & Game club as well as being a longtime member. Clarence loved gardening and was known for his tomatoes. He was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield, was very active as a Bingo worker, and was recognized for his time with two awards. He leaves his beloved wife of 70 years, Theresa (Jodoin) Marceau. His devoted daughters; Christine Gilbert of Worthington and Judith Almeida and her husband Richard of Ludlow, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He also leaves his dear sister, Gloria Flynn of East Longmeadow and his sister in law, Carol Marceau of Wilbraham. Clarence was predeceased by his parents and his siblings; Eugene H., Frances E. and George V. Marceau. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.



The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St. Springfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church, 417 Boston rd., Spfld. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Indian Orchard.
