Czeslaw Bachorz

Czeslaw Bachorz 1911-2009   INDIAN ORCHARD, Czeslaw "Chester" Bachorz, 98, of Indian Orchard, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2009 in East Longmeadow. He was born in Poznan, Poland and resided in Indian Orchard for many years.  He was a retired machinist for the former Chapman Valve Co. of Indian Orchard and had also worked at the Springfield Armory.  Czeslaw was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard.  During World War II, he was a member of the Polish Army and was captured by the Nazi's in September 1939.  He was sent to Siewzeldorlag, a forced labor camp in the Komi Province, USSR.  Released in 1941 he traveled to Persia to join General Anders Polish Korps which was part of the British 8th Army.  He was a member of the 5th Kressowa Division and fought at Monte Cassino, Italy.  After the war, he emigrated to England where he met and married Winifred Miriam Marie Crees.  They emigrated to the United States and settled in Springfield.  Czeslaw was predeceased by his wife, Winifred in 2002 and by a son Richard J. Bachorz.  He is survived by his sons, Edward T. Bachorz and his wife Donna of Miami, FL, Gary J, Bachorz and his wife Teresa of Ludlow; and three grandchildren, Kyle and Tyler Bachorz of Ludlow and Katya Bachorz of Miami, FL.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Ratell Funeral Home 200 Main St., Indian Orchard at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Indian Orchard.  Calling hours will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. For Guest Book: ratellfuneralhome.com Ratell Funeral Home (413) 543-3836
