Daniel R. Sloat

HOLYOKE-Daniel R. Sloat, 53, of Olive Avenue in Holyoke passed away peacefully at his home on Friday morning, September 13, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Dan was born in Ludlow on October 4, 1965 the son of Jasper and Angelina (Severino) Sloat of Wilbraham. He grew up in Wilbraham, attending local schools there and graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School. Dan worked briefly for State Line Potato Chips in Wilbraham before joining Friendly's. He was a Chef for Friendly's in Sixteen Acres for 23 years. Dan enjoyed traveling and he and his wife Tina visited the Bahamas, Florida, Oregon, Colorado and Canada. He especially enjoyed antique cars and loved going to car shows in his spare time. He had a heart of gold and was always there when someone needed help, big or small tasks, he was the dependable guy. He leaves his beloved wife, Tina (Zicuis) Sloat of Holyoke and his devoted dog, Bandit. His cherished parents, Jasper and Angelina Sloat of Wilbraham. He was predeceased by his sister Joanne.  He leaves his devoted sisters; Rosanna Tetreault and her husband Michael, Diane Fryer and her husband Steven all of Springfield, Lisa Rubner and her husband Troy of Wilbraham. His sister in law, Marjorie Ononiua and her husband Pedro of Chicopee and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins. Family and Friends will gather to remember Daniel for calling hours at the RATELL FUNERAL HOME, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will be Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Ratell Funeral Home with burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd., Springfield, Ma. Donation in Dan's memory for Cancer research may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, Ma. 02284-9168
