Dennis James Conway

Dennis James Conway, Jr., 31, died on Thursday, March 2, 2017 after a courageous 3 year battle with brain cancer at his home in Springfield with the comfort of his loved ones being at his side. Born on September 4, 1985, a loving son of Dennis, Sr. and Elaine (Robinson) Conway, he was a lifelong resident of Springfield. Dennis was educated in Springfield parochial and public Schools, graduating from Roger L. Putnam High School in 2003. Dennis is survived by his parents and 2 sisters, Kristen Conway and her Partner, Dan Russell of Remington, VA, and Caitlin Conway of Springfield, MA. Also survived by paternal grandmother, Marion Conway of Noank, CT, and several aunts and uncles, Joan and John Rogers of Oakdale, CT, Valerie Robinson of Waterford, CT, Susan and Lawrence Fenn of East Lyme, CT, Brendan and Hannah Conway of Laconia, NH, Charles and Joan Conway of Rochester, NY, and Thomas and Amy Conway of South Windsor, CT. He is also survived by many cousins and grandcousins, and loving friends. Dennis was predeceased by grandparents, Edwin and Gertrude Robinson and Charles Conway, Sr.; uncle, William Robinson and infant aunt, Mary Anne Conway. He worked a variety of jobs. His latest and favorite was working at the Palladium Concert Venue in Worcester. Prior to his illness, Dennis was an avid skateboarder. He also enjoyed astronomy, drawing and playing guitar and, through the years had many favorite artists, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, and most recently, Insane Clown Posse, and Twiztid. Dennis was also a master at video games and loved animals, especially his pet cat, Olivia, and his canine companion, Kain, who stayed by his side during his final days. Dennis had a sense of humor and loved anything related to Halloween and Batman, with the Joker being his favorite character. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, March 6, for calling hours for Dennis from 4-7 p.m. at Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard, MA 01151. Dennis's funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 7, beginning at 10 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker St., Springfield. Committal prayers and burial will follow immediately after the Mass at Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
