Donald Dube

Donald L. Dube, 83 of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December, 27, 2022 surrounded by his family. Don was born in Ludlow, a lifelong resident of the town and a graduate of Ludlow High School. He was the son of the late Aloria & Irene (Phoenix) Dube. He enlisted in the US army, serving at Fort Dix with the 4th Infantry from 1961 to 1964. After returning home he was employed with Chapman Valve and Westinghouse before joining Smith & Wesson in 1978. Don worked his way through the ranks and was employed in various positions throughout the years in receiving and assembly. He also worked for many years as a Sales Associate for Dick’s Sporting Goods in West Springfield. Don returned to Smith & Wesson, not one to sit still in retirement. He was part of the Smith & Wesson retirees team, they ran plant tours, oversaw the opening of the public store & gun range, organized game dinners and family trap and gun shoots. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish in Ludlow, where he served as a Eucharistic minister and greeter. He volunteered as a Scout Master with Troop 181 and assistant Scout Master with Troop 327. Don enjoyed anything outdoors related, whether fishing, hunting or camping with the family, especially in the winter months. Don married Marilyn Sunter and they enjoyed 57 years of love, family and many happy memories. He leaves his beloved wife, Marilyn (Sunter) Dube. His sons; Craig Dube and his wife Jacqueline Riel of Southampton and Steven Dube and his wife Luigina Dube of Ludlow. His cherished grandchildren; Anthony, Joseph, Matthew, Megan and Kayla and great grandchildren; Joseph Jr., Zeleyna, Fianna and Paul. He also leaves his brother in law Tom and his wife Joan Sunter of Ludlow and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Doris Dube. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 5, 2023 AT RATELL FUNERAL HOME, 200 MAIN ST., INDIAN ORCHARD FROM 9:30 TO 10:30 A.M. FOLLOWED BY A LITURGY OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL AT 11:00 A.M. AT ST. ELIZABETH PARISH, 181 HUBBARD ST., LUDLOW. Burial with military honors will follow in Island Pond Cemetery, Ludlow. Donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
