Edward Korovae

June 25, 1933 — March 27, 2020

SPRINGFIELD- Edward Korovae, 86, a resident of Springfield passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2020 at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home after a short illness. Edward was born in 1933 to Philip and Agnes (Golas) Korovae. Ed was raised in Springfield and was a lifelong resident. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country in Kansas and Japan during the Korean War. He worked as an engineer for the Zero Corporation in Monson for 33 years, then United Innovations in Holyoke for 4 years before retiring in 1998. Ed was married to the love of his life and best friend, Eleanor L. (Gagne) Korovae for over 61 years until her passing in 2016. Ed was predeceased by all his siblings; Walter Koroval, Alice Marino, Mary Circosta, Helen Keegan, and Phyllis Wegiel. He leaves his devoted children; Kathy Masztal and her husband Mark of Springfield, Linda Martin and her husband Bob of Avon, CT; Mark Korovae and his partner Mary Ann Phelon of Hadley and Kristopher Korovae and his wife Sylwia of North Providence, RI. His cherished grandchildren; Mark E. Korovae, Nikki Martin, Julia Korovae, Daniel Korovae, Sara Korovae and Amelia Korovae. Ed also leaves many nieces and nephews and extended members of the Korovae and Gagne families. Ed had many interests including; woodworking, stained glass, coin collecting, and the Boston Red Sox. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the Holyoke Soldiers' Home for the care, dignity and respect they gave Ed during his time living there and to all the veterans they care for every day. Donations in Ed's memory may be made to the Holyoke Soldiers' Home, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA for their dedicated care of our nation's veterans. The family will hold services pending the lifting of social gathering restrictions at a time to be announced.
