Edward A. Roberge 1926-2010 INDIAN ORCHARD- Edward A. Roberge, 83, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 5, 2010 in Wingate at South Hadley with his loving family by his side. He was born in Springfield on July 31, 1926 the son of the late Moise and Alma (Phaneuf) Roberge. He graduated from the former Springfield Trade High school, and was a WWII United States Army veteran, obtaining the rank of Private First Class. Edward received the Army Occupation Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. He retired from Boilard and Sons Lumber after 30 years of service, and had worked previously at Chapman Valve, both in Indian Orchard. Edward was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church, and was a member and past post commander of the American Legion Post 277 in Indian Orchard. He was an avid bowler, Boston Celtics and New England Patriots fan and enjoyed watching basketball and football on television. Edward loved all kinds of music, and also enjoyed spending winters in Florida and playing shuffleboard. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Celeste D. (Martins) Roberge, who entered into eternal rest on November 10, 2009. Edward is survived by his two sons; Edward P. Roberge and his wife Jody and Paul M. Roberge and his wife Sandy; a grandson, Jason Roberge, all of Belchertown; four sisters-in-law, Ida Provost, Rosalina Mucaria, Dolores Douville and her husband Ronald, all of Ludlow, and Antonia Cote and her husband Norman of Hampden; two brothers-in-law, Anicet Martins of Ware and John Martins and his wife Lorraine of Palmer; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10th beginning at 10:30 a.m. from the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Parker St., Springfield. Rites of Committal and military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Edward's family will receive relatives and friends at the visiting hours on Wednesday, June 9th from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
