Laura A. Guay1919-2013SPRINGFIELD- Eleanora "Laura" A. (Dzierzonawski) Guay, 94, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 in Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Greenfield, MA on April 23, 1919, a daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret (Piotkowski) Dzierzonawski. Laura leaves her daughter, Ann Hill and her husband Kenneth of Belchertown; a granddaughter, Laurie Moriarty and her husband Michael of Ware; a grandson, Kenneth Hill Jr. and his wife Christine of Ludlow; three great-grandsons, Kevin, Brian and Sean; a sister, Helen Milewski and her husband Michael of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard Guay in 1989; and four sisters, Josephine Roberts, Caroline Leveille, Antoinette Zera, and Jennie Cherwa. Laura retired from Service Rubber in Chicopee in 1981 and Big Y in Ludlow in 2004. She was a beautiful knitter and crocheter and loved making hats to give away to the Christmas tree at Country Bank in Belchertown. Laura also gave hats away to the staff and customers, especially the children, at Hawley's Restaurant. She was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles and never missed Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy on TV. Laura was a very giving person and her family was her life. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 12th at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth's Parish, 181 Hubbard St. Ludlow. Burial will be private. Visitation will precede the services from 9-10 a.m. at the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Laura's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
