LUDLOW-Ellan Marie "Ellie" Hardy, 65, of 321 East St., Ludlow passed away unexpectedly from complication of COPD at Baystate Medical Center on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Ellan or "Mema" as her family called her was born in Springfield on January 16, 1953, the daughter of the late Lorette Couture and William C. Hardy. Her mother, Lorette was a descendent of the Mohawk Indian tribe from New York and Canada and Ellie was a member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe also. She was raised in Springfield and attended local schools. Ellie enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid Tag Saler, who could never pass by without stopping to find one more treasure. She was an excellent Pool player and participated in many local leagues as an amateur player. She leaves her children; Dale Hardy and his wife Kimberly of Springfield and Scott Hardy of Ludlow. Her grandchildren; Heather, Daniel, Pamela, Abigail, Tyler, Parker and Spencer and three great grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters; Kathy and her husband Charles of Georgia and Cheryl and her husband Thomas of Westfield and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister; Sandra and a brother Dale. The family invites you to join them for calling hours for Ellie on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard. At Ellie's request, she choose cremation services and her family will be scattering her ashes in her favorite place.
