Eugene P. Sharon 1921-2009 Eugene Paul Sharon, 88, of Ludlow, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in the Redstone Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, East Longmeadow. Born in Enfield, CT he was the son of the late Archie and Anna (Lamore) Sharon. Eugene was a retired foreman for Eastern Etching Co., of Chicopee. He had also been employed for Stan-Allan of Ludlow. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Ludlow and a former member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Belchertown. Eugene was a man of tremendous character and talent. A gifted singer, he was a former member of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and the Jute Towners Barbershop Quartet. He was a talented wood carver and artist. Eugene proudly served his country during World War II in the U. S. Navy. He served aboard the USS Dahlgnen and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Eugene is survived by his wife and love of his life of (63) years, Phyllis (Barnum) Sharon; his daughters; Gale P. Bacon and her husband, Ronald of St. Paul MN; Karen J. Kozaczka and her husband, Frank of Ludlow; Peggy Dobson of Georgia and Anne Marie Beaudry and her husband Bruce of Ludlow; (8) grandchildren and (13) great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 27, 2009 from the Ratell Funeral Home 200 Main St., Indian Orchard at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Ludlow at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Island Pond Cemetery, Ludlow.
