Eugene A. Surprenant, 98, a lifelong resident of Ludlow was called safely home on Saturday November 5. Eugene was the son of the late Philias and Delia (Daigle) Surprenant. He served his country during WW II with the US Army received his honorable discharge in 1945 and was a POW. Eugene worked for Digital Corp. in Westfield until his retirement in 1982. Eugene was avid hunter and fisherman. He was predeceased by his wife Rose (Couture) Surprenant who passed on December 31, 2005. Eugene leaves to cherish his memory his son Gene and his wife Cher Surprenant, daughter; Diane and her husband Lawrence Koehler, grandchildren Joseph McKinney, Daniel Stone and Erick Koehler, great grandchildren Lee McKinney, Tayah and Aiden Stone. Eugene funeral will be held on Monday November 14 at 8:15 am in the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main Street Indian Orchard, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 am in the St. Elizabeth Church, 181 Hubbard Street Ludlow. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday November 13 from 4-7pm at the Ratell Funeral Home.
