Floyd E. Goyer

CHICOPEE-Floyd E. Goyer, 89, of Chicopee passed away on Thursday morning at BSMC in Springfield, after a brief illness. Floyd was born in Troy, New York on April 11, 1930 the son of the late George and Birdie Mae (Saunders) Goyer. He was raised and educated in Troy, attending local schools. He enlisted in the US Army and served from 1952 to 1954, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Occupation of Germany Medal. He returned home in 1954, settling in Massachusetts. He worked for Consolidated Freightways in Springfield over 20 years and also had been a longtime employee of the Springfield Republican delivering papers over 25 years.  He had previously worked for Hood Ice cream. Floyd enjoyed building models, especially planes. He enjoyed golfing and was a longtime Red Sox fan. He leaves his wife of 50 years; Maryann (Trybulski) Goyer. His children; David Goyer and his wife Katherine of Chicopee and Michelle Huffer and her partner Alan of Springfield, nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and his good friend, William Calkins of Belchertown. He was predeceased by his siblings; George, Eleanor and Yvette.  The family invites you to join them on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam for the Rites of Committal with Military honors for Floyd. Ratell Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
