Hazaros Muradian

August 29, 1932 — October 26, 2009

Hazaros Muradian 1932-2009   Indian Orchard, Hazaros Muradian was born in Constanza, Romania in 1932.  His mother Raqel and father Ohanes each survived the Armenian Genocide and settled in Romania where they met and married.  Hazar was an only child, born to very loving parents.  As a young boy, he witnessed the rise of Romanian Fascism and the devastation of World War II to his country.  He served in the Romanian Navy as a young man, where he apprenticed as a Dental Technician. At the age of 25, Hazar fell in love with and married Andreica Craciuneanu.  Hazar and Andreica bought a home in Constanza and started a family while he worked and continued his dental training at the university.  For many years, Hazar worked very hard to support his wife, three children, and his parents under the oppression of Ceausescu's Romanian Communist regime.  In 1971, with tremendous risk and sacrifice, Hazar gathered his family and courageously fled from Romania to Beirut, Lebanon as political refugees.  After six months in Beirut, Hazar successfully negotiated with the US Embassy for asylum in the United States of America.  Hazar brought his entire family to Indian Orchard.  The Armenian community in Indian Orchard welcomed Hazar and his family with open arms.  With help from the community, Hazar and his family were able to begin a new life in Springfield.  Hazar found a successful career as a dental technician at Lemay Dental Laboratory.  In 1990, Hazar realized his dream of becoming a US citizen. Hazar was a dedicated son, husband, father, and grandfather.  He was a most loving, compassionate, honorable, yet humble man.  Hazar is survived by his wife Andreica, son Florin, daughter Carmen, daughter Claudia and son-in-law Scott, and grandchildren David and Steven Muradian, Jeffrey, Michael, and Samantha Hervieux, and Taline, Van, and Aren Brubach.
