Helen M. O'Connor

Helen M. (Lafley) O'Connor, 88, of Indian Orchard passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital on January 19th with her loving family by her side. She was born in Springfield on May 9, 1935 to the late Edward and Mary (Huard) Lafley. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth, in 2016. Helen enjoyed watching her Boston Bruins play and listening to the Springfield Thunderbirds games on the radio. She also liked football and her New England Patriots. A highlight of her life was her trip to Ireland. She is survived by her 4 children, Debra O'Connor of Springfield, Lori Holda and her husband James of Monson, Kenneth Jr. and his wife Ruth of Springfield, Kathleen O'Connor of Indian Orchard, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Mercy Hospital for their care. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Helen's name to the St. Jude Shrine, 512 West Saratoga St, Baltimore, MD 21201-1896. All services will be held privately at the request of the family.
