Helen Scarfe

SPRINGFIELD-Helen F. Scarfe, 77, passed into our Lord's Kingdom on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Mercy Hospital. Helen was born in Manhattan, New York on June 14, 1940, the daughter of the late Antonio and Anna (Calabrese) Florio. She moved with her family as a young girl and was raised and educated in Springfield. She graduated from the High School of Commerce in 1958. Helen was a communicant of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Parish. Helen worked for Sears at the Eastfield Mall for 26 years until retirement. Her beloved husband of 54 years, Thomas R. Scarfe passed away on August 21, 2014. She leaves her devoted daughters and their families; Sandra Santangelo of Suffield, CT, Mary Seyfried and her husband Timothy of Milford, CT, and Christina McDonald and her husband, Stephen Mills of Tucson, AZ. Her cherished granddaughters, Kimberly, Lindsey, and Audrey; brother Michael Florio, sister Susan Porreco and her husband James, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter Emily Seyfried, son-in-law Daniel McDonald, and sister-in-law Thuryle Florio. Calling hours for Helen will be Wednesday afternoon from 4 to 7 p.m.at the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard. The Funeral will be Thursday morning from the Ratell Funeral Home at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass for Helen at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 417 Boston Rd. Springfield with Fr. Ryan Rooney, Celebrant. The Rites of Committal and burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fuller Rd. Chicopee.
