James Franklin "Frank" Smith

SPRINGFIELD-James F. "Frank" Smith Sr., 62 of Aberdeen Rd. in Springfield passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday August 22, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. James was born in Abingdon, Virginia on November 14, 1955 the son of Mitchell E. and Gladys V. (Watson) of Virginia. He moved with his family as his father was in the military, and was educated in schools in Virginia and Guam. The family moved to Springfield in 1967 and had resided here ever since. Frank owned his own Home Improvement business and was especially talented as a Tile Setter.  Frank was a family man and loved spending time with his wife and children and dog, Tyson. He enjoyed family outings and get together's. Frank spent every Sunday with his dear father, Mitchell. He enjoyed reading and was a big History buff.  He was predeceased by his mother Gladys (Watson) Smith and a brother William "Wig" Smith. He leaves his dear father; Mitchell E. Smith. His beloved wife, Joyce M. (Lafromboise) Smith and their children, James F. Smith Jr. and Shelly M. Smith all of Springfield. He also leaves his siblings; Ronnie E. Smith of Washington, Garland L. Smith of Springfield, Linda D. Keller and Pamela M. Boissonneault of Springfield and Stephanie L. Owens of Wilbraham and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours at the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard will be Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m.  to 11:00 a.m. with a service at the Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. followed by burial at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Parker St., Springfield.  Donations in Frank's memory may be made to the Smith Family.
