Janet Irene Eldredge

SPRINGFIELD-Janet I. Eldredge, 75, of Pheland Street in Springfield passed away peacefully on Thursday morning at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her family. Janet was born in Ludlow on August 18, 1944. She was educated in local schools. She married Allan V. Eldredge Sr., settling in Springfield they began their lives and family together. She worked as a cashier for Mass Mutual for many years prior to her retirement. Janet enjoyed playing cards, coin collecting, going to the movies and the occasional trip to the casino. She also enjoyed outdoor gardening. She was a skilled crocheter and made beautiful towels and blankets. Above all she was a loving mother and was dedicated to her family. She was a member of the former St. Aloysius Church in the Orchard and communicant of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. She leaves her beloved husband, Allan V. Eldredge Sr. of Springfield, her children; Sidney Martin and his wife Debbie of Agawam, Allan V. Eldredge Jr., Gary Eldredge and his wife Sarah and Lynn Martin and her partner Tony Fila all of Springfield, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She also leaves her siblings; Joseph, George, Richard and Ronald Marlow and many nieces and nephews. She was sadly predeceased by a son, Dean Martin and her sister, Elizabeth Walker. Family and friends will gather to remember Janet on Monday, October 21, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard followed by a Religious Service at Ratell's at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Ave., Indian Orchard, Ma. Donations in Janet's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place  Memphis, TN 38105
