Janice E. Remillard

INDIAN ORCHARD ~ Janice E. "Jan" (Duquette) Remillard, 83, of Hampden Street in Indian Orchard passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, April 3, 2019 surrounded by family. Jan was born in Springfield to the late William J. and Leona B. (Dominique) Duquette. She was raised and educated in Springfield and graduated from Springfield Technical High School.  Jan began her career at Alamac Mills where she met the love of her life, Raymond Remillard. They were married, settling in the Orchard where they raised their family. Jan went on to work for Sears & Roebuck for 10 years and then with Patient Accounting at Baystate Medical Center, finally retiring in 2006 at the age of 70. Jan's greatest love was her family. She was the true definition of a Mother, and loved spending time with all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jan loved to travel and visited many places throughout her life. With raising a large family, Jan learned to never miss a bargain! She was a devoted catholic and a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. She stayed active her entire life, was a member of the Ludlow Boys and Girls club and a longtime member of the AquaBabes Swim club there. She leaves her lifelong friends; Joan, Geri, Eileen, Annie and Teri who predeceased her.  Her beloved husband of 57 years, Raymond H. Remillard passed away on Oct. 29, 2016 and her dear brother, Robert W. Duquette also predeceased her. She leaves her devoted children; Robert A. Remillard, William T. Remillard, Raymond H. Remillard and his partner Katherine Sassi, Cheryl-Lee M. (Remillard) O'Neil and her husband Sean W. O'Neil, Darren S. Duquette and Stephanie (Duquette) Lepsch, 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, as well as the extended members of the Remillard, Duquette and Dominique families. Relatives and Friends may call on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 4pm -7pm at the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main Street Indian Orchard. The family invites you to join them directly at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the Liturgy of Christian Burial for Jan. (please arrive promptly by 9:45 a.m.) Burial will immediately follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery, Berkshire Avenue, Indian Orchard. Donations in Jan's memory may be made to the Sr. Caritas Cancer Center, 271 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104
