Joan A. Lavoie

Joan A. Lavoie1943-2015Chicopee- Joan A. (Sliski) Lavoie, 71, of Chicopee passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Orchard Valley at Wilbraham Senior Living. Born in Ware on April 29, 1943 she was a daughter of the late Kazimer A. and Stella J. (Chambella) Sliski. Joan was a 1961 graduate of Palmer High School and worked at Sears in the Eastfield Mall for over 20 years. She was a communicant of Christ the King Church and enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, traveling, and swimming. Joan had an energetic personality and was loved by all. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard E. Lavoie, in 1999. Joan leaves her two sons, Michael Lavoie and his wife Jeannie of  CA, and Christopher Lavoie of Chicopee; her brother, Louis Sliski and his wife Cecile of Ludlow; her sister, Debra Nowak and her husband Dean Matsuno of Boston; her brother-in-law, Roger Lavoie; her sister-in-law, Theresa Luppi; her grandson, Mark Lavoie of CA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 starting at 10am at Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St, Indian Orchard with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11am in Christ the King Church, 41 Warsaw Ave, Ludlow. Rites of Committal to follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Ave, Indian Orchard. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 23rd from 4-8pm.
