Leonard E. Patrie1936-2014Leonard E. Patrie, 78, of Wales, MA, passed away Sunday evening of a sudden illness. Mr. Patrie was a master plumber for Suburban Plumbing and Heating Co. for over 20 years, and a retired member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, local 104. Over the course of his life, Leonard was involved with several groups and organizations including the Army Reserves, the Knights of Columbus, the Moose Lodge, and the Holland Congregational Church. He was also proud of his long term involvement with scouting Explorer Post 180, in Ludlow, where he inspired a generation of young men with his love of camping, hiking, rock-climbing, and nature survival training. Leonard Patrie is survived by his wife, Donna Patrie, of Wales, his children, Christopher and Ann Patrie of Somerset, TX., Jeremiah and Theresa Patrie of Ware, Matthew and Jenifer Patrie of Ludlow, Michael and Danielle Morin of Ware, David and Lisa Pugh of Dalton, MA., Ronald and Kristen Pugh of Ossining, NY., Stephen and Sandra Pugh of Chicopee, and Gregory and Marjorie Middleton of Otis; 20 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dianne Harris and husband Charles of Springfield, and Jean Kosowski of Ludlow. Mr. Patrie was predeceased by a daughter, Michelle Ferris. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 6th at 10:30 a.m. by The Community of St. Elizabeth in St. John the Baptist Church, 181 Hubbard St. Ludlow. Mr. Patrie's family will receive friends at the visitation on Monday, January 5th from 3-7 p.m. at the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St. Indian Orchard.
