Louis T. Castonguay

SPRINGFIELD-Louis T. Castonguay, 80, formerly of Springfield passed away on Sunday morning at the Jewish Nursing Home from complications of Covid-19. Louis was born in Springfield on July 12, 1939 the son of the late Louis and Viola (Walczak) Castonguay. He attended local schools in Springfield, graduating from Springfield Classical High School. Louis enlisted in the US Army in 1957, then transferred to the Massachusetts National Guard. He served with Air National Guard of the United States with the 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes National Guard Base in Westfield. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and served 17 years before being honorably discharged in 1992. He also worked for Hamilton Sunstrand in the Aero Space Department for 36 years before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion and the Chicopee Moose Family center for many years. He worshiped at First Church of Ludlow for many years. Louis leaves his devoted sister and her husband; Elizabeth "Betty Anne" and Harold Snipes of Ludlow and many cousins. The family will observe a private interment at Island Pond Cemetery in Ludlow with a Memorial service to be announced pending social restrictions. The family asks that donation in Louis memory be made to First Church of Ludlow, 859 Center St., Ludlow, Mass. 01056 Ratell Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
