Louis P. Chenevert 1924-2008 Louis P. Chenevert, 84, of Indian Orchard, passed away after a brief illness in the loving presence of his family on Saturday, December 13, 2008 in Mercy Medical Center. Born in Ludlow and a resident of Indian Orchard for most of his life, he was the son of the late Henry and Irene (Pierce) Chenevert. Louis was a graduate of the American Television Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL, receiving his degree in television engineering. He began his television career with WWLP Channel 22 in 1953 and retired as chief engineer in 1986. He proudly served his country during World War II as a Fire Control Man, Second Class, serving aboard the destroyer USS Hall. He received the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal; Philippine Liberation Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Medal. Louis was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Ludlow. He previously was a parishioner of the former St. Aloysius Church of Indian Orchard and was a member of the Indian Orchard Knights of Columbus Council #160. Louis loved wood working, gardening and golf. He was an avid New England sports fan who enjoyed the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins. In 1951 Louis married his beloved wife, Rita E. (Jodoin) Chenevert and enjoyed (58) years together. She sadly passed on November 29th of this year. He was also predeceased by six brothers, Edmond, Clement, Francis, Bernard, John and Raymond Chenevert and two sisters, Bernadette Houle and Virginia Barrett. He leaves his beloved daughter, Kathleen M. Borek and her husband Thomas of Westfield; his dear granddaughter, Janessa Acquaro of Boston and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 18, 2008 from the Ratell Funeral Home 200 Main St., Indian Orchard at 9 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Church, Ludlow at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Indian Orchard.
