Louis P. Jarvis 1926 - 2009 Ludlow - Louis P. Jarvis, 82, died on Tuesday, September 8 at the VA Medical Center in Leeds, MA. He was born in Springfield on October 9, 1926 and was a lifelong Ludlow resident. He was a graduate of Springfield Trade High School and proudly served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was a former long time employee of Smith and Wesson and Vice President of the former Classic Arms Limited of Palmer. He was an avid New England sports fan, former youth sports coach, and loved gardening and woodworking. He was also a member of the Ludlow Lodge of Elks, and the VFW. He was the husband of the late Gloria (Renaud) who died in 2003. He is survived by two sons, Brian and his wife Susan of Ludlow, and Jeff and his wife Jill of Monson. He will be sadly missed by his loving companion, Edie Cormier of Ludlow, nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters. Funeral services are Friday, September 11 at 8am from the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9am at St. John the Baptist Church, Hubbard St. in Ludlow. Committal services will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1390 Main St, Agawam. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Thursday, September 10 from 4 -7pm.
