Margaret E. Abare

Margaret E. Abare 1939 - 2010 SPRINGFIELD - Margaret E. "Peggy" (Spalthoff) Abare, 70, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born on March 14, 1939 in Boston, MA.,  to the late Christian and Margaret H. (Rankin) Spalthoff. Peggy attended schools in Boston and was a homemaker for most of her life. After her husband passed away, she went back to work as a dispatcher with the Springfield Public School System, where she retired after several years of service. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society for many years. Peggy was predeceased by her loving husband, Earl H. Abare, Sr. on September 4, 1985 after thirty years of marriage. She leaves to cherish her memory, her four sons, Earl H. "Skip" Abare Jr. and his wife Christine of Three Rivers, MA, Mark C. Abare of Westfield, Kenneth M. Abare of West Springfield and Chris A. Abare of Hadley, FL; her brother, Peter Spalthoff of CT; her six grandchildren and her four great grandchildren. Beside her parents, Peggy was also predeceased by one brother and two sisters. There will be a Service of Remembrance on Friday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St. Indian Orchard, MA. Burial will follow the Service in Island Pond Cemetery in Ludlow. A calling hour will precede the Service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peggy's memory, to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave, Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062-5040.
