Margaret M. DeSellier1933-2015Springfield, MA- Margaret "Peggy" M. (Thompson) DeSellier, 82, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter Lois in Lakeland, FL. She was born in Ludlow on January 13, 1933 a daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Burno) Thompson. Peggy was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Springfield. Peggy was an avid bowler, dancer, sewer and fundraiser - she helped found the "People against Cancer" which raised money for cancer charities. This charity included the creation of the Festival of Clowns, which ran for many years in Springfield, MA. She also had a love for animals that has transcended throughout her family.  Besides her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her husband, George L. DeSellier in 1989; and two brothers, Gary and Matthew Thompson. Peggy is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Foisy and her husband Robert of Belchertown, Diane Berardi and her husband Adamo of Springfield, and Lois Tergliafera and her husband Thomas of Lakeland, FL; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Adamo, Nicholas, Kevin, Eric, and Jonathon; 12 great grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas Thompson of East Sandwich, MA, Stewart Thompson of The Villages, FL, and Donald Thompson of Jeffersonville, VT; a sister, Dorothy Pereira of Indian Orchard; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will assemble on Thursday, July 23rd at 8:45 a.m. with services beginning at 9 a.m. at the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St. Indian Orchard, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 417 Boston Rd., Springfield. Rites of Committal and burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, St. Ann Section, 421 Tinkham Rd., Springfield. Peggy's family will receive relatives and friends at the visitation on Wednesday, July 22nd from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peggy's memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
