Marie Carmella Marcoux-Stone

OBITUARY   Marie C. Marcoux-Stone 1931-2010   GRANBY - Marie C. Marcoux-Stone, 78, passed away Friday, February 19, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.  Born July 28, 1931 in East Longmeadow, MA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Zarlingo) Grandi.  Marie was a long time resident of Indian Orchard section of Springfield.  She was the owner of the former Marcoux's variety store of Indian Orchard and retired from the East Longmeadow Nursing Home were she was employed for many years. Marie was predeceased by her first husband Edward G. Marcoux, Sr., who passed away on May 11, 1982.  She remarried her long time friend and guardian angel, Fred Stone of Granby, MA on Oct. 25, 1997.  Fred also passed away on August 2, 2007.  She touched the hearts of everyone she met and was known as Mom to all of her children's friends.  Marie was an avid Red Sox fan and was very grateful to see them win a world series in her life time.  She was a communicant of St. Jude Mission Church of Indian Orchard.  She is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, daughter Louise Lavigne and her husband Bill of Springfield, daughter Pauline Doel of Holiday, FL, son Edward Marcoux of South Hadley, step-son Mark Stone and his wife Sandy of Easthampton, step-son Randy Stone and his wife Mary of Granby and sister Theresa Grandi of Springfield. She also leaves her grandchildren Kathy Doel, Cristina Welch, Sabrina Daley, Jamison DuPuis, Christopher Lavigne, Brandon, Jonathan and Daniel Marcoux, step-grandchildren, David Stone, Carrie Hurst, Christopher Stone, Cameron Stone, several great grandchildren, one great great grandson and several nieces and nephews. We would like to extend our dearest gratitude to the staff at Mercy Medical Center as well as Riverbend Medical Group for the wonderful care and compassion they showed to Marie for so many years as well as to all who donated blood on her behalf.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from the Ratell Funeral Home 200 Main St., Indian Orchard at 9 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Jude Mission Church 221 Main St., Indian Orchard at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield. Calling hours will be held at the Ratell Funeral Home on Monday, February 22, 2010 from 4 - 8 p.m.   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Marie's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105 or to the American Diabetes Association P.
