INDIAN ORCHARD ~ Mary Agnes (Gethins) Blais, 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Indian Orchard on Wednesday December 11, 2019. Daughter of the late John and Kathryn (Kavanaugh) Gethins, Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her presence will be deeply missed by both family and friends. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School and completed the LPN program at Holy Ghost Hospital of Nursing. Mary worked at Baystate Medical Center's Wesson Women's and Infants Unit for over 40 years. She was president of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and the St. Matthew Women's Club. Mary was a member of the Catholics Women Club and a volunteer for the Baystate Medical Center Senior Class. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Springfield, Ma. Mary wrote "The Village of Indian Orchard Massachusetts", celebrating Springfield's 350th anniversary. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Gerard L Blais, daughter, Laura Burnett and her husband Shawn of Westminster, MD, son, Gerard Blais and his wife Kristin of Westfield, MA and four grandchildren: Braeden, Connor, Liam and Kelsey. She also leaves her sister; Kathryn Kubera, her brother Joseph; Gethins and his wife Janice, brother in-law Roland Blais, sister in-laws Lucille Fontaine and Rita Nowak and many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. Mary was predeceased by her brother in-law Donald Kubera and her sister in-law Doris Snyder. The family would like to personally thank the aides, nurses and doctors for the care and compassion that they provided Mary.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO GATHER TO CELEBRATE MARY'S LIFE ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 21ST AT 11:00 A.M. AT OUR LADY OF THE SACRED HEART CHURCH, 417 BOSTON ROAD, SPRINGFIELD, MA. Interment of her ashes will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Berkshire Ave., Indian Orchard.
