Miriam June Cooney 1919-2010 SPRINGFIELD - Miriam "June" Cooney, 91, of Springfield died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born, raised and educated in Springfield June was a life long resident and the daughter of the late Arthur and Irene (McCarthy) Felton. June was a childhood/kindergarten teacher for many years at the Trinity School. She also had a long career working as a bookkeeper in the accounting department at John C. Otto Printing Co. in East Longmeadow, where she retired in 1994. After retiring she enjoyed many years as the President/Treasurer for the Holy Cross Senior Center and Golden Age Club of Springfield. June was involved in many activities and was an avid supporter and campaigner for Brian Lees. She enjoyed her family and loved to travel, cook, knit, play piano and host many great parties. As a younger woman she was approached by Mr. Breck to become a Breck Shampoo model. June was predeceased by her husband of (40) years, Atty. William H. Cooney in 1989 and by her son, Bernard "Lee" Baldwin in 2008. She is survived by her loving son Richard Baldwin of Springfield; her daughter-in-law, Shirley Baldwin of Myrtle Beach, SC; her brother, Elmor Felton and his wife Thelma of Springfield; her loving (7) grandchildren and (19) great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Ratell Funeral Home 200 Main St., Indian Orchard, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield. Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning from 9 to 11 a.m.
