Raymond Armand Delisle

Raymond A. Delisle 1936-2010 SPRINGFIELD - Raymond Armand Delisle, 73, of Springfield entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 15, 2010.  Born and raised in North Adams, MA, he was the son of the late William and Albertine (Rougeau) Delisle Roberts and step-father Silva Roberts. Raymond attended Notre Dame School and Drury High School in North Adams as well as North Adams State College and graduated from Springfield Technical Community College in 1977. Raymond was a retired (23) year employee of Smith & Wesson. An electronic technician, he was responsible for maintaining S&W's robotic machines.  Raymond was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He served at Keesler AFB in MS and at Barksdale AFB in LA.  Following his active duty he continued to serve in the Air Force Reserves for another (4) years. He was a man of keen intellect and possessed talents as a musician and vocalist.  He played  guitar and organ.  In his youth he played country music on the radio and had his own band while stationed in Louisiana.  Raymond was a member of the Maranatha Voices, a religious music group and the Musical Notes and TOP, another group that entertained at nursing homes. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish of Ludlow and a member of the Lay Dominican at the Mother of God Chapter in West Springfield.  He leaves his wife Marie H. (Vallieres) Wentz Delisle; sons, Edward J. Wentz and his wife Karen, Glen Philip Wentz, daughter, Theresa Ann Wentz, brother, Gerald Delisle, sister Jeannine McKinney; (5) grandchildren; (17) great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Vivian O'Dell.   Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from the Ratell Funeral Home 200 Main St., Indian Orchard at 10 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth Parish, Ludlow at 11 a.m.  Burial with Military Honors will be at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam at 1 p.m.  Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m.  The family requests flowers be omitted and donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.
