Rena Cora Pleau

January 26, 1926 — March 8, 2024

Rena Cora Pleau, age 98, of Indian Orchard passed away March 8, 2024. She was born on January 26, 1926, the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Grace (Moore) Fontaine. Rena attended the former Classical High School in Springfield. She worked at Diamond Match and Spaulding in the early 1940’s. Rena then stayed at home taking care of her daughter, then her grandchildren. After they were grown, she worked for the school bus department in Springfield as a minibus driver, until finally retiring. Rena was a member of the Girls Friendly Society (GFS). She loved to bake and knit and won many awards for her talent. Rena was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Harold A. Pleau and her sisters Marion, Lorraine, Betty, and Grace. She is survived by her daughter, Correna M. (Bitgood) Hutchins, grandchildren Bryan T. Bitgood, Megan L. Bitgood and partner Aaron Pajak, Kimberly A. LaCamera and husband Peter, Alyson L. Cecchi and husband Peter, and her special niece, Marion Louis. 7 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. Also, many nieces, nephews/family members and friends throughout her life. A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Park Cemetery on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
