Richard Albert Foisy

Richard ("Dick") Albert Foisy, 89, peacefully passed into the next phase of his life on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in his home. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 14, 1929 to the late Philip and Leda (Belanger) Foisy. He was educated in the Springfield school systems, served in the Army National Guard and was the owner and publisher of The Horsemen's Yankee Pedlar newspaper. Dick established Good Luck Farm in Ludlow where he owned, trained and bred horses for many years. Dick also was an auctioneer with the title, "Colonel Richard Foisy." Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beverly (Bliss) Foisy and his sons Philip P. Foisy and his wife, Antonia Golinski-Foisy of Ludlow and John R. Foisy of Houston, Texas. Richard leaves behind his granddaughters, Rachael Skelly of Ludlow, Katelan Foisy of Chicago, Illinois, Brittany Foisy Tyler of Ludlow and Nicole Foisy of Houston, Texas. He leaves three great-grandchildren, Olivia Tyler of Ludlow and Nick and Maya Wiltz of Houston, Texas. Dick was pre-deceased by his brother, Roger G. Foisy and cousins Maurice Foisy and Beatrice Foisy Arel who were raised as his siblings. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blue Star Equiculture Draft Horse Sanctuary, 3090 Palmer St., Palmer, Ma. 01069. A private graveside service will take place at Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield, Ma. A celebration of life will take place in late spring 2019.
