Richard P. Perreault, 85, of Prospect Gardens passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022 at his home with family at his side along with his beloved cat Charlie. "Pete" or "Dick" as family and friends called him was born in Chicopee, a son of the late Cleophas & Rose (Landry) Perreault. He grew up in Chicopee and attended local schools. He enlisted in the US Navy after High School and served with the SeaBees. He was honorably discharged and returned home to get married and raise his family. Richard retired from Monsanto Chemical Company and had previously worked for JG Roy Lumber in his younger years. He married the former Joanne Siedel and they raised their family in Ludlow. Pete was an avid hiker and longtime member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and other hiking clubs. He collected books and was an avid reader, thousands of books occupied every inch of space at his home including Melville and Dickens. He was a Charles Schulz fan and loved Snoopy & Charlie Brown. Pete was a member of the Moose Family Lodge in Chicopee for many years. His beloved wife, Joanne passed away in 2013. He leaves his children John Perreault and his wife, Amy Dryansky of Conway, Linda R. Perreault of Ludlow and Susan M. Fontaine and her husband Darren of Monson, two grandchildren; Tovi and Isaac. His sisters in law; Cathy Sena of Southwick and Julie Perreault of Ludlow, many nieces, nephews and cousins in the area.
