SPRINGFIELD- Rita P. Malo, 92, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 16, 2011 in Chapin Center Nursing Home. She was born in Springfield on July 13, 1918 a daughter of the late Joseph and Zelia (Ethier) Malo. Rita attended Canadian Normal School in P.Q. Canada and in 1965 received her teaching degree from the College of our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee. She retired from the Goshen Center School where she was a first and second grade teacher. Rita was a communicant of the former St. Aloysius Church, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 277, all in Indian Orchard, a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Wilbraham, and a member of the V.A Hospital-Northampton 1000 Hour Volunteer (1989-1994). She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Marie Chabot of Springfield. A celebration of Rita's life will be held on Tuesday, April 26th at 11 a.m. at the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., with Rites of Committal and burial to follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, 1275 Berkshire Ave., both in Indian Orchard.
