Robert W. Nyman1952-2016Ellenton, FL-Robert "Bob" Walter Nyman, 63, of Ellenton, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, FL surrounded by his loving children and brothers. Born in Springfield on November 6, 1952, Bob grew up in Indian Orchard and lived in the Springfield area for most of his life. He was a graduate of the High School of Commerce, and also attended Springfield Technical Community College and Quincy College, IL. Bob was an extraordinary athlete who excelled in many sports, including soccer, baseball, hockey and golf. He worked at both Taylor Rental Corporation and Friendly Ice Cream Corporation for many years before retiring to Florida in 2011. Bob will always be remembered as a caring father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His incredible sense of humor, gregarious nature and kind heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob was predeceased by his beloved parents, Alarick and Jacqueline (Marcil) Nyman, and his dear brother and sister, Alarick Nyman, Jr. and Suzanne Nyman. He is survived by his loving children, Jennifer Nyman of Belchertown, Evan Nyman of Chicopee, his cherished grandson Kristofer Kelly of Belchertown, his devoted brothers John of Northampton, William of Ellenton, FL with whom he lived, Jeffrey Nyman and his wife Debra of Feeding Hills, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his former wife, Kathryn Petersen of Belchertown, Evan's mother, Suzanne Roy of Ware, and many good friends, including last but not least, his beloved dog Jack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker St., Springfield, MA. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield, MA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, 627 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104.
