Roger W. Holt, 75, of Springfield, Massachusetts was called home to the kingdom of heaven on December 3, 2016. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Roger was predeceased by his late wife Joyce (Dennis) Holt. Roger leaves behind his son, Brian Holt, along with daughter, Lori Striplin and her husband Mark; brothers; Donald, William, and Edward Holt, sister; Linda Gamble, grandchildren; Brianna and Spencer Holt, and Neko Mills, and great-grandchild; Emma Joyce Drinkwine. Roger was the son of the late George and Evelyn (Dibble) Holt. He was born in Ludlow, Massachusetts on July 28, 1941. After completing high school at Putman High, Roger went into the Army until he was honorably discharged in 1961. After serving our country proudly, Roger worked for the city of Springfield's Department of Public Works. He was an avid outdoorsmen and adventurer, Roger enjoyed the simple things like camping, painting and going to Mohawk Beach Estates. Roger was a communicant of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church. He was a longtime member and officer of the Springfield Revolver Club, The Ludlow Fish & Game Club, and The Industrial Pistol Club. Roger was an assistant Scout Master of Troop 41. He was predeceased by his brothers; George and Robert Holt, and a sister; Jean Laplante. Family and friends are invited to calling hours at the Ratell Funeral Home located at 200 Main St. Indian Orchard, on Thursday, December 8th, from 4-7 pm. Family and friends should meet at the funeral home for 8:30 am on Friday, December 9th followed by a Literary of Christian burial to take place at 10 am in the Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church, 417 Boston Road.
