Shirley Mae Koutruba

February 24, 1926 — January 13, 2017

Shirley M. (DeRoche) Koutruba, 90, died Friday January 13th, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on February 24,1926 and a longtime resident of Ludlow, MA. Shirley was predeceased by her husband William Koutruba and her daughter Gale Mange. She retired from Smith and Wesson and Macy's Department store.  She was an avid bingo player and had many, many, wonderful friends.  Shirley also loved her many trips to the casinos and lived life to the fullest. She leaves her children Beverly Smith and her husband Michael of Hampden, Paul Koutruba of Montgomery and Janet Wrona and her husband John of Ludlow.   Shirley is also survived by her loving grandchildren; Christopher Smith and his wife Gianna; Kimberly Mancini and her husband Mark; Kara Erickson and her husband Jamie; Dustin Bean and his wife Sherri; and Nora Cabrera and her husband Danny. She will also be missed by her 12 cherished great-grandchildren: Tyler, Adam and Jared Smith; Alexa and Matthew Mancini; Brynn, Camden and Brayden Erickson; Heather Cote, Hayley, Hawley and DJ Bean. Family and friends are invited to calling hours at Ratell Funeral Home 200 Main Street Indian Orchard, on Wednesday, January 18th from 4-7pm. A Liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 19, 2017 at 9am at the funeral home, 10am at St. Elizabeth Church 181 Hubbard St, Ludlow.  Burial will follow at Island Pond Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made in Shirley's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
