Thomas R. Scarfe1936-2014SPRINGFIELD- Thomas R. Scarfe, 77, a long time Springfield resident, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 in Life Care Center of Wilbraham. He was born in Ludlow, MA, on December 6, 1936 a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Zygarowski) Scarfe. Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Springfield Wire and had worked prior at Williams Distributing in Springfield and Alamac Mills in Indian Orchard. Thomas is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Helen (Florio) Scarfe; three daughters, Sandra Santangelo and her husband Paul of Granby, CT, Mary Seyfried and her husband Timothy of Milford, CT, and Christina McDonald and her fiancé Stephen Mills of Tucson, AZ; three granddaughters, Kimberly, Lindsey, and Audrey;  father-in-law, Antonio Florio; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Anna (Calabrese) Florio; a son-in-law, Daniel McDonald; a granddaughter, Emily Seyfried; a brother, George Scarfe; and a sister, Edith Phaneuf. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 25th beginning at 8:45 a.m. from the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 417 Boston Rd. Springfield, with Rites of Committal and burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fuller Rd. Chicopee.
