WILBRAHAM- Angelina (Severino) Sloat, 83, of Wilbraham passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, surrounded by the love and care of her family and her caregivers. Angelina was born in Altavilla Irpina, Italy on June 17, 1936, one of 10 children to the late Alphonso and Rosina (Ciampa) Severino. She grew up in Italy and was educated at schools in Altavilla. Angelina immigrated to this country when she was 18, arriving on July 7, 1955 in Ellis Island, NY. She traveled to Springfield where she settled, spending the rest of her life here. She was married on May 6, 1961 to Jasper C. Sloat Jr. in Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield. They enjoyed 58 wonderful and devoted years until her passing on Sunday. Angelina worked for the Susan Burke Co. in Ludlow for 13 years and had previously worked for Carters Clothing and the S & M Tomato Co. both in Springfield.  She loved cooking, gardening, reading and especially traveling. They visited Italy, Belgium and Australia, visiting family and friends. They also went to Niagara Falls in Canada and enjoyed taking family picnic trips to the Quabbin. Angelina loved spending time with her family, especially watching over and doting on her grandchildren. Angelina was sadly predeceased by a daughter,

Joanne in 1963 and a son, Daniel Sloat in September of 2019 and several siblings; Elio, Anna, Giovanna, Gemma and Angie.  She leaves her devoted husband of 58 years, Jasper C. Sloat. Her loving children; Rosanna Tetreault and her husband Michael, Diane Fryer and her husband Stephen all of Springfield, Lisa Rubner and her husband Troy of Wilbraham and her daughter in law, Tina Sloat of Holyoke. Her cherished grandchildren; Nicole, Michael, Alicia, Shawn and Amanda and great grandchildren; Charlotte, Noah and Alianna. Her dear siblings; Simone Severino and his wife Sue, of FLA., Guido Severino and his wife Phyllis and Decio Severino and his wife Mary all of Spfld. and Ottavia Camerlengo of Belgium and many nieces and nephews. Family and Friends will gather to remember Angelina at the RATELL FUNERAL HOME, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  FUNERAL SERVICES FOR ANGELINA WILL BE FRIDAY MORNING, JANUARY 10, 2020 AT 9:30 A.M.  AT RATELL FUNERAL HOME WITH BURIAL TO FOLLOW AT 11:00 A.M. AT THE MASSACHUSETTS VETERANS MEMORIAL CEMETERY, 1390 MAIN ST., AGAWAM. (Processional departs the Funeral Home promptly at 10:30 a.m.)
