Tribute

LUDLOW-Carol Naomi Palmer, 96, of Stivens Terrace in Ludlow passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday evening with her family surrounding her. Carol was born in Bensalem, Pennsylvania on Christmas Eve of 1922, a daughter to Park and Ethel (Wilgus) Dilks.  She was raised in Bensalem, attending a one room schoolhouse her entire academic career. Carol moved to Massachusetts in 1946 after marring Robert Palmer, settling in Indian Orchard near his family where they began their family. She began a long career with Dr. Waclaw Hojnoski in Springfield working as his Medical Secretary for 28 years, even spending several years with her daughter who succeeded her in the position. She retired in 1995, moving to Ludlow to enjoy her family. Carol loved to garden, flowers and plants seemed to respond to her loving touch, her family often commenting “She didn’t have a green thumb, she had a green hand, lol”. She also had a flair for decorating and her home was beautifully adorned. Her beloved husband, Robert predeceased her as well as her devoted son and caregiver, Glenn Palmer who just passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019. She was the last of her siblings and her generation on both sides of the family, all passing before her. She leaves her loving children; Diane Felton of Springfield and Alan S. Palmer of Carlisle, PA., four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather to remember Carol on Wednesday morning, Nov. 20, 2019, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard.
